Elephant folio, 8 pp., with 50 color plates, with 50 accompanying pages of text. Bound in a cloth backed folder, with marbled paper over boards. Rear board detached. Some light toning to the edges of the plates and text. ** 50 rich color plates, on matted card stock, with a letterpress page of accompanying text. Volume 1 comprises items from the 12th - 15th centuries, primarily enamels, gold and enamel boxes and lamps and candle holders. This collection was donated to the Metropolitan Museum of Art by JP Morgan, and was assembled by French architect Georges Hoentschel (1855-1915). Morgan commissioned this catalog of the collection, with rich, hand tinted plates, many with gold leaf. Limited to 100 copies. *** [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
