Published June, 1904] 6 1/2 inches x 9 7/8 in., half-title; title-page with numbering on the reverse; publisher's note; photogravure portrait of Jefferson with tissue guard, and photogravure portrait of Dunbar with tissue guards. [1]-45 pp., pp.; [1]-189, pp.; [1]-76; fold-out map printed on onion-skin type paper (Map of the Washita River in Louisiana [-]), this map shows some edge wear. Dark blue cloth with a printed paper title label on the spine (and a second title label at the back of the book). The cover cloth shows some light spotting, age-related tanning to the endpapers, page margins. From the Americana collection of Dr. T.L. Hodges of Bismarck, Arkansas. An avid scholar, Dr. Hodges opened all pages. Scarce, numbered, original 1904 printing, done at the time of the 1804 (Louisiana Purchase) Centennial. The Limits and Bounds of Louisiana by Thomas Jefferson & Journal of a Voyage Commencing at St. Catherines landing, on the East bank of the Missisippi, proceeding downwards to the mouth of the Red river, and from thence ascending that river, the Black river and the Washita river as high as the Hot-Springs in the proximity of the last mentioned river.
