AN ABRIDGED SPECIMEN OF PRINTING TYPES.
NY: George Bruce's Son & Co., 1869. 9 1/4 x 12. Title, 2-166 French-fold pages,printed rectos & versos, plus Supplements 1, 2 in part, 3-5, 7-10 (March 1870-July 1875). The supplements are paginated 167-170, 173-198, 203-222. As issued, there is no page 171/172 and Supplement 6 is not present. Original cloth covers with title & "1869" gilt stamped on upper cover and spine. Covers a bit soiled and faded. The binding has been professionally restored, preserving original spine. Very good, clean, tight. Pages 2-6 constitute a revised price list, pages 7-123 type (including many fancy and ornamental faces), and pages 124-166 display rules, ornaments, and cuts. Most of the typographic material is displayed in a variety of typographic and bibliographic themes. OCLC notes three US copies: Yale, CT Historical Society, St. Louis Public Library.
