First Edition. Full years 1895 and 1896 issues of the January 6, 1895 to December 27, 1896. Half black sheepskin. Smooth spine tooled with fillets. Rubbing on spine and jaw. Corners bumped. Good copy. The first issue is devoted to condamantion Dreyfus, the newspaper has no word strong enough to denounce his crime and laments that Dreyfus was not sentenced to death, calling him a bad Jew, as opposed to the usual term in France for Jewish Israelite. After the article, a large folding engraving include the degradation of Dreyfus. The Journal is a French illustrated weekly newspaper established in February 1864 and is illustrated with large woodcuts and magazine covers topics in eight pages in the format 27 x 37.5 cm.
