Leaf Prints: Or Glimpses at Photography
Benerman & Wilson, Philadelphia 1868 - Original blindstamped green cloth decorated and lettered in gilt on bevelled boards. "Acer dasy carpum" (White or silver maple) under leaf. Previous owner's name and address, children's rubber stamp images, and rear endpaper notated in pencil, none of which affects the text or albumen print. Historical introduction, Leaf negatives, Waxed prints as negatives, Silver process, Printing by development, Processes without silver, Removal of stains, Apparatus and chemicals. Silver Maple, Solomon's Seal, and Maidenhair are the three specimens in the albumen frontispiece, representing three different families of leaf designs. Photo shows dark cover edge spot.
