'In September, 1905, the Government decided to send a prospecting party to the south-western and western portions of the Northern Territory. Mr F. R. George, of the Mines Department, was appointed leader, and it was decided to first prospect the Petermann Ranges, regarding which area little was yet known, and then proceed by way of the Treuer Ranges to Tanami, near the Western Australian border, where Mr A.
