Part of it is also a ledger or account book and one of the entries makes mention of McClurg, Denniston Co., which was an Allegheny County (Pittsburgh) company. Mainly recipes for sweet items--cakes, cookies, wine jelly, biscuits, puddings--also a recipe for tomato catsup, blackberry wine and blackberry brandy, also sauces, some viands, pickled items, and other domestic products such as soap, "washing fluid," cures, etc. Nice look at cooking in Pittsburgh in the 1830s.
