A Specimen of Printing Types, By William Caslon, Letter-Founder to His Majesty. Housed in Custom Clamshell Box
William Caslon, London 1785 - Undated, ca. 1785. Four leaves of printing specimens, 16.25" tall, in a custom clamshell box. Appears to have been professionally extracted from a larger publication, leaves in very good condition with some minor age- darkening around the edges, no chips or tears. The clamshell box measures 17.25" tall and is bound in linen type cloth with a dark red leather spine, gilt spine lettering, near fine condition, no names or other ownership markings.
