It Came From Beneath The Sea
Printed by J.Lichtert and Sons, Brussells. [1955] - A scarce original Belgian mid-size / window card style poster for the 1955 sci-fi movie 'Le Monstre Surgit Des Mers' from Columbia Pictures, directed by Robert Gordon, and with groundbreaking flying saucer effects created by Ray Harryhausen. Folded (almost always issued folded!), condition B (slight soiling to extreme upper edge, blank portion for scree times partially clipped). 14x 22 inches approx, now with loose-backed board stiffener. Oscar-winning animator Ray Harryhausen's classic first film in partnership with producer Charles H. Schneer, 'It Came From Beneath The Sea was specifically designed to showcase Harryhausen's special model-animated effects. His other major films include Mighty Joe Young (1949), Earth vs. The Flying Saucers (1956), 20 Million Miles to Earth (1957), Jason and the Argonauts (1963), One Million Years B.C. (1966), The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1974) and Clash of the Titans (1981). Note on Format; Belgian posters come in three primary sizes, with the 14x22 being the mid-size style. Similar to a US window card, but printed on thinner paper (and therefore fragile). A popular format with collectors. [Attributes: First Edition]
