Spine darkened somewhat and with some moderate tanning and light soiling to the cloth, otherwise a very good copy. First edition, clothbound issue, of the author's uncommon first book, published anonymously. This romantic pot- boiler precedes by a decade Bellamy's chef d'oeuvre, the immensely influential LOOKING BACKWARD - 2000-1887. Not in the Seyboldt catalogue. BAL 952.
