La Croisade De Lee Gordon [Lonely Crusade]
Correa. First French Edition, and the first edition to appear with an introduction by Himes' compatriot Richard Wright. Wrappered issue. Near Fine in a Very Good plus dust jacket, with only a few small chips to note. The striking jacket design comically depicts the interracial tension of the novel's protagonist in a way that would likely never have been allowed by Himes' American publisher, Knopf, who first issued the book in 1947. The second of two novels written by Himes during his tenure as a screenwriter in Los Angeles (the other was "If He Hollers Let Him Go"), both dealing with the influx of the black population into that city as a result of the growing defense industry.
