Performance (Original Screenplay)
Goodtimes Enterprises. Draft British working script for the 1970 film, dated 2 years prior to its release, and at over 175 pages about a third longer than the finished film. After putting his indelible stamp as a cinematographer on "Petulia" (Richard Lester, 1968), Nicolas Roeg made an auspicious debut as a director with this forward-looking film, an avant-garde mix of crime fiction, celebrity analysis, rock music, and study of human nature, recently re-evaluted with high regard by Paul Schrader in "Film Comment." With Mick Jagger in two roles, both as a rock musician and a wealthy British aristocrat. Yellow studio wrappers with a die-cut window in the British style for this period. Title page present, with credits for the small production company, Goodtimes Enterprises, and a date of 1968. 177 leaves, roneograph. Pages creased at bottom right corners from use, wrapper Fair to Good with stains and rubbing, wear and yapping to fore-edge. Bound with two silver brads.
