Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam
London, Routledge 1908 - Complete and in fine condition, 12mo, 75 stanzas with one per page on the recto. Twelve full page illustrations by James Gilbert each with its own pristine tissue guard. Bound in full embossed red calf with details hand colored. Turn ins in red gilt ruled leather, signed Bayntun of Bath and with red silk moire end papers. A bit of wear to the head of the spine where it looks like someone used their nails to pry the book from its case rather than using the silk ribbon designed to extract it--however it in no way is a distraction except for anal retentive collectors of bindings. Housed in a period red silk covered slip case. All edges bright gilt. The scans are better than my poor words to describe this scrumptious bon bon of a book easily devoured in five or six dainty bites or in one gulp if you're a fatso flying in the face of aspiration or a flood of chocolate drools down the front of your XXXXX sized flowered Muumuu which is the only dress that can hopefully cover your ass. Bon appetite and bonjour. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
