[portrait of the author], dedication, preface, map. Privately printed for W.P. Ricketts who was blind when the book was published. very fine copy obtained from the library of Fred Rosenstock's daughter. Very scarce to rare. DOBIE: LIFE AND LITERATURE: p.115: "A natural book with much interesting information. It contains the best account of trailing cattle from Oregon to Wyoming that I have seen." Recollections when he became a cowboy, roundups on the Platte, Indian raids, the winter of 1879-1880, booze and cattle won't mix, his trip to Yellowstone, the open range, etc. A modern work, printed for friends and has become quite scarce.
