London: Isaac Taylor Hinton, 1829. - 4to., (10 4/8 x 8 2/8 inches). 24 fine hand-coloured lithographic plates and duplicates uncoloured, interleaved with instructional text (some minor spotting and a few pale stains). Modern half calf over contemporary grey paper boards. First edition and an ATTRACTIVE UNUSED COPY, with beautiful botanical plates and sections on the exotic arts of: painting on velvet "the downy surface of the velvet, and the brilliancy of the liquid colours used to produce fruit and flower, give it a decided superiority over any other kind of flower painting, for ornamenting bell ropes, ottomans, &c. (page 70); and Oriental Tinting "fruit and flowers painted on paper, in this style of colouring, are exceedingly soft and beautiful, and from the ease with which persons, unacquainted with drawing, can produce pictures by means of stencil patterns."
