The Siege of Barcelona occurred in April 1706 during the War of the Spanish Succession.  the Franco-Spanish army led by Phillip V laid siege to Barcelona in an attempt to recapture it following its fall to an English-led Allied army the previous year.  The siege failed when a large British fleet carrying reinforcements under the command of John Leake arrived to defend the City.  Barcelona would survive another 8 years, until falling in the Siege of 1714.
