Illustrated with 40 fine full page colour plates plus 80 preliminary studies, many of these full page and coloured as well. Fine copy in publishers full grey morocco binding. Spine with raised bands. Two dark blue leather labels, ruled and lettered in gilt. Pale blue laid paper endpapers. A fine copy in the original plain brown paper wrapper and housed in the recess, with a ribbon pull-tie to lift the book out, of a larger solander box. Box covered in dark blue cloth with a colour illustration mounted onto the front panel and a blue morocco label, ruled and lettered in gilt, to the spine. A fine copy of this wonderful production. Best known for his illustrations to the famous Readers Digest Book of British Birds, this work shows a fascinating insight into the process behind the creation of Ching's beautiful Bird paintings. Although born in Wellington, New Zealand, Ching has spent most of his adult life living in Britain.
