Doylestown, PA: Privately Printed, 1868. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. Biography of John Lacey who was appointed a brigadier general in the American Revolutionary War. A native of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Lacey was a member of local militia unit which was incorporated into the Pennsylvania Line of the Continental Army. He commanded the American forces in the Battle of Crooked Billet. Written by W.W.H Davis, a Civil War general also from Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Davis was active in several historical and military organizations, such as the Bucks County Historical Society, which he served as president, and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, Davis's papers are currently held at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University. In blue cloth backed red paper boards. Scratching to the boards; some pin holes where newspaper clippings were once attached, now laid in; creasing to ffep, previous owner's name in ink on ffep; one newspaper clipping glued. Otherwise internally clean and bright. 118ppg + appendix. Large paper. Held by many institutions but scarce on the market.
