Sense and Sensibility. A Novel
London: George Routledge, 1851. . 12mo, (3)-286, (4 advertisement) pp. Ink signature to title, brief pencilled inscription to the next leaf, upper joint slightly cracked but sound. Contemporary cloth, gilt titled spine, some marks and rubbing. A very scarce issue of “Sense and Sensibility” published in Routledge’s Railway Library, not noted in Keynes (who lists an 1852 edition) or Wolff and with only one copy on Copac (Cambridge); Sadleir mentions it in his list of the Railway Library (II p167/8) but doesn’t catalogue it elsewhere. Presumably rebound close to publication since the half title is missing and both inscriptions show signs of being very slightly cut down; the binding not matching those mentioned by Sadleir.
