Harper & Brothers, NY 1942 - The book is bound in full blue cloth with gilt lettering on the spine. The board edges show light wear. Corners are still sharp with no bumping and light wear to the page edges. The dust jacket has some shelfwear and some shallow chipping at the edges. There is a one half inch by one inch chip at the head of the spine { shown in picture } near the rear fold.The spine also shows some light sunning. The $2.50 price is still present on the front flap. Author photo on the rear panel. This copy is inscribed and dated by the author on the front free endpaper. The inscription reads : ' BEST WISHES FROM NELSON ALGREN. CHICAGO,ILL, MARCH 10,1975' A decent copy of a book that was cheaply produced during wartime and a neat inscription by one of Chicago's finest authors.
