Henry Colburn and Richard Bentley,, London: 1830 - Sadleir places Marryat's second novel in the upper half of his list of 'Comparative Scarcity', though in our experience over the last decade, we've offered a couple copies of NAVAL OFFICER [Marryat's first novel, and Sadleir's 'most scarce title] prior to acquiring this one of KING'S OWN. The last auction record we find for this work comes from 1970 [Sotheby's]. Square & tight. Spines lightly sunned. Vol I half-title leaf beginning to detach at bottom. Withal, a solid VG set. Period, and somewhat plain, pebbled blue cloth bindings, with gilt-lettered maroon leather title labels to spines. 12mo. 7-1/4" x 4-3/4". 1st edition (D'Hannay, p. ii; NCBEL III, 705; Sadleir 1581; Wolff 4520). 3 volumes ([4], 324; [4], 325, [1 (blank)]; [4], 327, [1 (blank)], 4 pp). 4 pages of adverts conclude Vol. III.
