Atlas of the Lithological-Palaeographical Maps of the USSR Volumes I to IV (Complete)
Academy of the Sciences of the USSR-Ministry of Geology, Moscow 1967 - 4 volumes, published between 1967 and 1969, publishers printed card and cloth portfolios containing coloured folding maps with text and key in Russian and English. Collated complete. "In 1960-1966, The Ministry of Geology of the USSR and the Academy of Sciences of the USSR with contribution of some other organisations (Ministries of High Education, Petroleum and Gas industries etc.) compiled an Atlas for the territory of the USSR containing lithological-palaeographical and palaeotechtonic maps on a scale 1:7 500 000, a few maps on a scale of 1: 15 000 000 and some maps on different scales, which characterize the conditions of accumulation of some economic minerals of sedimentary origin and 4 environment sedimentation etc. The Atlas consists of four volumes. Volume 1 [1968, 52] includes maps for Pre-Cambrian, Cambrian, Ordovician and Silurian; volume II [1969, 65 maps] - for Devonian, Carboniferous and Permian; volume III [1968, 71 maps] - for Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous, while volume IV [1967, 55 maps] - for Paleogene, Neogene and Quarternary. The Lithologic-Palaeographic Atlas of the USSR presents a first essay of systematic cartographic representation of the physic geographic conditions and distribution of the main types of sediments and volcanic rocks on the whole territory of the USSR for different geologic periods, epochs and ages beginning from Proterozoic and till the Present geologic epoch.The sites of concentration of economic minerals formed during the corresponding period of time are shown with special symbols." Portfolios 42 x 64 cm, maps (all with central fold) 82 x 63 cm. Condition very good, front cover of volume 1 with a few marks and initial page slightly toned else excellent throughout.
