Paris: Bernheim-Jeune, Editeurs; 1914 - Paris: Bernheim-Jeune, Editeurs; 1914, first edition, one of 400 copies, from the total edition of 600; large folio (about 15 x 12 inches), short text in French illustrated with 1 original etching by Paul Cezanne (printed in sepia; titled "Paysage a Auvers, Entree de Ferme Rue Saint-Remy", single state, created by Cezanne in 1873 but only used as this book's frontispiece; Venturi 1161; Leymarie C5); and 6 hors-texte original b&w lithographs, one each, by Edouard Vuillard ("Portrait de C├ęzanne", Roger-Marx 51), Pierre Bonnard ("Baigneur", Bouvet 82), Maurice Denis ("Nature morte", signed in the plate, Cailler 135), Henri Matisse ("Fruits et feuillages", Duthuit 1), K.-X. Roussel ("Bacchanale", Salomon 27) and Aristide Maillol (signed in the plate; Guerin 265). In addition, the book contains two hors-texte b&w lithographs, one after a drawing by Paul Signac and one after a drawing by Felix Vallotton + 59 hors-texte heliogravures after works by Cezanne, of which 4 are enhanced with pochoir. Internally fine but several pages bound out of order; bound in burgundy morocco, the original wrappers preserved. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Soft Cover]
