Scenario (A film with sound).
Paris: The Obelisk Press, 1937 - Octavo. Signatures loosely inserted as issued into the original buff wrappers printed in red. Housed in a quarter brown morocco slipcase. Wrappers just a touch sunned but an excellent copy. Folding frontispiece by Abraham Rattner. First edition, first printing. One of 200 numbered copies signed by the author. With the author's signed presentation inscription on the first blank, "To Hans Reichel Emperor of the Oceanic Depths! from his good friend Henry Miller Paris 8/37". Reichel was an artist who had trained with Klee and was acquainted with Kandinsky, Gropius, Feiniger and other members of the avant garde in Weimar Germany. He fled to Paris in the 1930s and became, among other things, Miller's painting teacher. The two men remained friends for their lifetimes and in 1966 Miller published Order and Chaos chez Hans Reichel. A key association copy from the inner circle of Miller's Parisian life. From the library of John Martin with his small label inside the lower wrapper. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]
