The Argonaut Manuscript Limited Edition of Frank Norris's Works [general title].

The leaf of manuscript is a full sheet (often with this edition they are only half sheets), and covers the opening scene and pivotal point in the novel when McTeague receives the notice from the City that he does not have a license to practice dentistry, which McTeague does not understand and repeats in frustration "I don't know, I don't know" and minutes later "I guess I'll ask Trina about it." Norris has made several corrections to the manuscript text. 10 vols, 8vo, white parchment spines and sides over orange boards, gilt lettering. Frontis portrait. McElrath AA3.a; BAL 15048. In fine condition in the original printed dust jackets (spines somewhat faded and slightly worn).
