Roberts Brothers, Boston 1896 - FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING, containing the first appearance in print of over 150 of Dickinson's poems. In the publisher's original three-piece binding of white cloth-covered boards with a green cloth shelf back and a gilt-stamped rule where the two cloths meet. This is Myerson's A binding, the more elaborate and expensive of the two bindings offered at the time of publication. It is rarer and considerably more appealing than the B binding, which was a plainer uniform cloth. All edges gilt. Complete with one white wove endpaper and one laid paper blank at both the front and back. Ink gift inscription from 1967 on the front free endpaper.Apart from some minor soiling to the cloth, and a tiny bit of foxing to the endpapers, this is a bright copy, Very Good or better.
