Textblock edges somewhat browned, otherwise and exceptionally neat and clean copy. With 1,200 francs price on back cover and subtle overstamp (issue point denoting 2nd issue). Small chip to inner top corner of pages 43-46 and 51-54. True first edition, the title was later published in America by Putnam under the author's real name (Terry Southern).Allegedly inspired by Voltaire's "Candide", "Candy" narrates the sexual journey of innocent Candy Christian. A compatriot of William Burroughs and others of the Beat Generation, Terry Southern went on to write the screenplay for Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove" and the Peter Fonda classic "Easy Rider".
