Some wear and chipping to wraps at spine fold and edges, front cover partially separated, text also quite good. Rosenbach 291. Welch 259.2. Shaw-Shoemaker 12394. The last in a series initially published in London (1801) , with the first U. S. Edition of all three by Johnson in 1802-1803. Each chapter [in it's own book], was published separately and depicted scenarios for errant children and their fates. "The greater number of the stories in the book(s) end in disaster, as is implied in the title. One of the exceptions concerns a man falling from a balloon (in this volume) , which is accompanied by an interesting engraved illustrating the subject" - Rosenbach.
