London: Hurst and Blackett, 1860. - One of two translations by Reid of novels by the French adventure novelist, Louis Eugene Gabriel Ferry de Bellemare, a.k.a. Gabriel Ferry (1809-1852). Bellemare, like Reid, spent almost a decade in the American west and Mexico. Ferry's novels were also translated into German and Spanish and reprinted in Mexico City. 3 vols, 8vo, original blind-stamped purple cloth, gilt lettering. Frontispiece in each volume.
