Twelve Original Woodcuts.
Richmond: Printed and Published by Leonard and Virginia Woolf at the Hogarth Press, 1921 - Small quarto. Original hand-printed marbled blue, black and green "wallpaper" wrappers, white paper title label to upper wrapper printed in black. Housed in a blue quarter morocco solander box by the Chelsea Bindery. Some typical rubbing and wear to the wrappers, especially at the spine but a very decent copy and uncommon thus. 12 cuts printed directly from the blocks. First edition, first impression. One of just 150 copies hand-printed by the Woolfs. One of the early triumphs of the press and very scarce indeed. The wrappers are constructed from wallpaper and even more fragile in this format than when found on the smaller hand-printed Hogarth pamphlets such as Eliot's Poems and Woolf's own Kew Gardens. With the ghost of a removed bookplate to the inside of the front wrapper identifying the copy to have belonged to Angelica Garnett (nee Bell), daughter of Vanessa and Clive Bell. Woolmer 13
