Országos Magyar Zsidó Segito Akció (Hungarian Jewish Aid, Budapest, Hungary 1942 - Though the scans may be blurred, because the book is too large book for it to sit properly on the glass platen of my scanner, the pages are in fact white and very clean and the actual print on the ages are very sharp. The book looks pristine. Holocaust-era hagadah, published in 1942 Axis Hungary. It was published by the Országos Magyar Zsidó Segito Akció (Hungarian Jewish Aid Action), a self-assisting organization founded in 1939 as a social aid program for the needy. Contains introduction, research and notes in Hungarian, reproductions of haggadah leaves of manuscripts and ancient printings and music notes. The Hebrew printing is consistent with that used in a Haggadah published in Jerusalem in 1930 by Nachum Lifschitz. Numbered, one of 900 copies, with signatures of the authors and artists. Yaari 2293; Otzar 3870. LVII, [1], 73, [1], LXXXII-LXI, [2]. The Hebrew printing is consistent with that used in a Haggadah which appeared in Jerusalem in 1930 published by Nachum Lifschitz. Includes preface, research notes and comments in Hungarian, reproductions of handwritten Haggadah pages and antique printings, and music notes. Numbered, one of 900 copies, with signatures of the authors and artists. Ya¿ari 2293; Otzar 3870. LVII, [1], 73, [1], LXXXII-LXI, [2] pages, Most of the illustrations are reproductions in red & black, of ancient Egyptian art. The page borders & other ornaments continue the Egyptian motif & were designed by Bertalon Gandor. It was published in two editions. They are identical except for additional sections which precede & follow the text itself. (This copy) These include an introduction by Dr. Geza (Moshe) Ribary; 2 historical essays (one on Haggadah illustrations) by Dr. Erno Munkacsi; music for some of the hymns & songs; & reproductions of some pages from old Haggadahs. An example of sumptuous bookcraft, executed with loving attention to quality & detail.In Hungarian & Hebrew on facing pages, translated & annotated by Dr. Zoltan Kahn. Illus by Dr. Ernest Munkacsi.
