Miscellanies in Prose and Verse.
- Sydney, Evans 1838. Octavo untrimmed in (original?) unlettered cloth. Foxed but still a rather good copy. A couple of marginal annotations in earlier pages, presumably by George Chisholm whose name is on the title, many of the later pages still unopened. Woolls' claim to a significant place in Australia's poetic history is pretty feeble but fortunately most of this book consists of his essays - it is in fact styled as Australia's first book of essays (more properly one of two - James Martin's รข€˜Australian Sketch-book' appeared in the same year). The essays range across the abstract and universal (intemperance, hope, death) and the practical and parochial (educational errors in Australia, the establishment of the colony).
