London: George Routledge and Sons 1939 - First UK edition, first printing. Original green cloth with gilt titles to spine in dustwrapper. A near fine copy with a neat ownership inscription and light, even browning to pages, very slightly worn at the spine ends. Complete with the original extremely scarce near very good dustwrapper which has some creasing, particularly at the extremities, and is missing a couple of chips at the head of the spine (not interfering with text) and the rear panel. Another shallow chip at the head of the front panel has a closed tear extending approximately 6cms into the dustwrapper and there is a short inconspicuous closed tear to the crease in the rear flap. Nonetheless a presentable example, not price-clipped and clean and bright. The dustwrapper is made from heavily laminated paper which accounts for its vulnerability to chipping, cracking and creasing and in turn explains why so few examples are seen. Given this vulnerability, this is a decent copy of an undoubted rarity. A Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
