Author's illustrated edition. Early edition - rare to find this JV novel in such good condition. Original red cloth with black illustration on front stamped in black lettering on blue plates with similar on perfect spine. Pears' soap advertisement on back. Recently rebound using original boards by master book restorer, Stephen Holiday of Oxfordshire. New cream end papers of the period. Tiny loss to top right hand corner of catalogue page.
