[Oratio 1] "With this first public address as a medical teacher Boerhaave accepted his duty as lecturer of medicine. He felt that the medicine of his day should led back to Hippocrates" (Lindeboom). [Oratio 2] With this oration, which could also perhaps be considered as an honour bestowed by the Senate on the future profesor, he expressed his gratitude to the Govenors. Boerhaave's early disputations and ordations are rarely offered for sale today, the first editions of these are almost unobtainable at the antiquarian bookmarket. Lindeboom, Bibl. Boerhaaviana 16 & 21.--(Partly waterstained, but large paper copies).
