Bound in cloth with gilt lettering, and gilt and embossed decoration, and unclipped dustwrappers. Includesan introduction to each volume by Philip Guedalla. With decorative pictorial endpapers. The set comprises:Vivian Grey, The Young Duke, Popanilla and Other Tales, Contarini Fleming,Alroy, Henrietta Temple, Venetia,Coningsby, Sybil, Tancred,Lothair, Endymion and Falconet. Philip Guedalla (18891944) was a historian and essayist, always more interested in men than movements. HisThe Second Empire (1922) was a study of the emperor rather than of the empire, who made solid contributions to knowledge in titles such as Gladstone and Palmerston (1928) and The Queen and Mr. Gladstone (1933) - ODNB. Condition: The bindings aretight and firm. There is only some slight wear to the extremities, with just some slight bumping. The dustwrappers have some chipping to the edges, with some closed tears, loss to the top and tail of the spines, slight discolouration to the spines, and occasionalfoxing. Internally the pages are generally bright and clean, with some spots to the untrimmed edges. Overall the condition is very good indeed, with good only dustwrappers. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
