London: Allen & Unwin 1948 - 1966 reprint of the 1948 New and Revised Edition. A quite fascinating copy of this standard text. The book has been signed by several leading members of the British Labour Party from the past 30 years including former Prime Minister, Gordon Brown; Scotland's first ever First Minister, the late Donald Dewar; former Deputy Prime Minster to Tony Blair, John Prescott; former party-leaders Neil Kinnock and the late Michael Foot; former Cabinet Ministers Tony Benn, Denis Healey, Roy Hattersley and the late Robin Cook; the one time Father of the House of Commons, Tam Dalyell and noted rebel George Galloway. The book itself in is Good or better condition, square and tight, there is a previous owner's name and date at the foot of the front pastedown. The book is lightly bumped at the head and tail of the spine and at one foredge corner.The dustjacket is also in good clean condition with two tiny tears to the top edge of the spine which is also slightly sunned. The bottom corner has been clipped from the front flap. There is a publisher's price label showing a price of 60 shillings affixed to the flap. An outstanding copy of this famous account of the working-class movement in the British Isles and an important item of political memorobilia. In protected jacket.
