Lippincott, Grambo & Co. - Philadelphia 1850 - 5 1/4" x 7 3/4", 247 pages includes 5 scenic engravings, 5 engraved portraits and a folding map of the battles of Mexico. The engraved portrait of Colonel Childs opposite page 214 is detached but present. There are 38 pages of inventory and new publications following the text and appendix. Blind embossed decoration on both blue cloth covers with bright gilt decoration and title on spine. Fading/damp staining to covers with wear to corners and slight stain to top interior of title pages and table of contents not extending into text. Wear to top and bottom cover edges and top and bottom of spine. Binding straight, square and secure with all hinges supple. Interior text bright , generally clean and unmarked with light soiling and toning along page fore edges. Slight damp stain to top of pages of advertising, none to text.***** This work is written in a series of 45 letters to a friend. It lists the officers and men who served in the Mexican War.
