Allen and Co., London 1868 - viii, 444pp. Later half-morocco and marbled paper over boards, raised bands, spine in six panels, title and author in gilt to second panel, marbled endpapers, all edges marbled. Very minor rubbing to extremities, internally bright and clean. Small oval book label of Alexander McGrigor to front pastedown. Binding is by Maclehose of Glasgow. Vambery was a Hungarian linguist, a British spy, and apparently was the model for Professor Van Helsing in Stoker's Dracula (from Howgego).
