SIGNED] Bibliography of Oscar Wilde
T Werner Lauire, London 1914 - First trade edition, hardback, bound in the original blue cloth with gilt titling to front and spine. Top edge gilt. 22 × 14cm. xxxix, 650 + 1pp ad. Stuart Mason's monumental work on the writings of Oscar Wilde. In precise detail, Mason lists: 1. Periodical Publications, etc., in Alphabetical Order. 2. Works Issued in Book Form. 3. Biographies, Studies, etc. 4. Appendix, and index of names. The book is illustrated with facsimiles of title pages, signatures etc both full page and within the text. Stuart Mason was the pseudonym of Christopher Sclater Millard. He was close friends with Wilde's literary executor Robbie Ross and his bibliography of Wilde's works began in 1900. This copy is signed to the front pastedown "To my good friend H V Storey" from Stuart Mason, July 1914". Hedley Vicars Storey was a London bookseller and poet. Condition: This is a good copy but with some wear. The cloth is rubbed to the spine ends and to the boards' edges. The pages are light but comprehensively foxed throughout and the inner binding is a little pulled in places, most noticeably at the title page. Loosely inserted is an extra Index of Names in smaller format and may have been used as advertising. Please see the Cox & Budge website for further details - thanks.
