The Jungle Book. With Illustrations by J. L. Kipling, W. H. Drake, and P. Frenzery Together with: The Second Jungle Book, with Illustrations by J. Lockwood Kipling.
London: Macmillan & Co., 1894 - 1894-1895. 2 volumes, both FIRST EDITIONS. 8vo. Bound in original blue cloth, gilt, with coated black endpapers, all edges gilt. A solid pair with a little rubbing to the gilt of first volume, slight discolour to boards, no inscriptions or bookplates, occasional spotting; a very good pair. The 'Jungle Books' is a collection of short stories, the best-known being the three tales revolving around the adventures of the abandoned 'man cub' Mowgli who is raised by wolves in the Indian jungle. The most famous of the other stories are probably 'Rikki-Tikki-Tavi', the story of a heroic mongoose, and 'Toomai of the Elephants', the tale of a young elephant-handler.
