The Hobbit
George Allen & Unwin, London 1946 - The book is firmly and squarely bound in the original green cloth, lettered and decorated in black, the boards are clean, though the corners and spine ends are slightly bumped. The text block is a little age toned, with some minor spots of foxing and a neatly written name to the first two blank pages. The dust jacket is the original, correctly stating 4th impression to the front flap, it is price clipped with small areas of loss to the edges and some minor closed tears, it is a little age toned, slightly more so to the spine, but overall a very attractive unrestored example. The final impression of the first edition, before Tolkien made significant revisions to the text for the second edition, bringing the narrative in line with that of 'The Lord of the Rings'. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
