Very rare offprint of the ornithological and mammalogical section of Victor Jacquemont's Voyage dans l'Inde. The ornithology occupies pages 81-89, and includes Jacquemont's Extrait d'un catalogue d'oiseaux du Cachemir, edited by Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire. Jacquemont was invited by Pierre Louis Cordier, director of the Musée d'Histoire Naturelle in Haiti, to undertake a scientific survey of India. In August 1828 he left for India, sailing in the Zélée. He surveyed the country until September 1831, visiting Lahore and Kashmir and collecting plants, birds, fish and geological specimens.Text-leaves browned, plates in fine condition.
