The Works of Charles Dickens
Chapman and Hall, Ltd., London - 1906. The National Edition, complete in 40 volumes and limited to only 750 sets. Small thick quarto full green cloth with gilt-decorated spines and central gilt lozenge on front covers. Top edges gilt; others uncut. Illustrated throughout with full-page engravings by Cruickshank, Browne, Seymour, etc., as well as examples of the original wrappers. This set preserved in the ORIGINAL DUST WRAPPERS (lacking on one volume and with a portion of the spine missing on another, but generally in remarkable condition). Because of the presence of the jackets, there is considerably less fading on this set than is normally encountered (the two volumes with no or partial jackets do have the typical fading). One of the best sets of Dickens with the remarkable survival of the jackets. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
