Franklin Delano Roosevelt Signed Speech at Gettysburg, with Photos and Veterans' Commentary
1960 - This volume has the signatures of both Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the editor, John E. Boos. John E. Boos of Albany, New York, spent many years in the early-mid 20th Century compiling hundreds of volumes that incorporated contemporary politics and first-hand accounts from Civil War veterans, especially as they related to their contact with Abraham Lincoln. Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945) gave two speeches at the Gettysburg Battlefield during his presidency, one each in 1934 and in 1938. This volume includes a signed typescript of the Gettysburg speech he gave May 30, 1934, along with 28 press photos of Roosevelt and 15 notes from Civil War veterans who met or saw Lincoln, or who were present at the Battle of Gettysburg. Bound in book form, blue cloth over boards. The volume measures approximately 9 1/2" x 7". FDR speech very lightly toned, page with signature even less so. Volume overall very good. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
