The Essays of Bacon (Teddy Roosevelt Association copy)
Arthur L. Humphreys, London 1900 - Beautiful crimson red full leather boards with panels and spine tooled masterfully in gilt. Five raised bands to the spine and with gold dusted text edges. 272pp. Superior binding and paper. Teddy Roosevelt's copy signed, dated ( July 4th, 1914 ) and inscribed to Richard Derby. Derby was a surgeon who married Ethel Carow Roosevelt ( Teddy's youngest daughter ) on April 4th, 1913 while serving together in a hospital in France during World War 1. This superb copy being acquired from April Moore whose mother-in-law was Ethel's second child Edith. April now resides on Vashon, WA. A neat association copy with great provenance. A signed authenticity document can be acquired from the family if desired with purchase. Some light general wear but overall a very well preserved and important association copy. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
