Opera Omnia Anatomica et Chirurgica (title taken from first half-title - four volumes in one : (I) Adenographia Curiosa et Uteri Foeminei Anatome Nova. (II) Dissertatio Anatomico-Medica de Motu Bilis Circulari Ejusque Morbis. (IIII) Sialographia, et Ductuum Aquosorum Anatome Nova, Priori auctior. (IV) Operationes et Experimenta Chirurgica. by Antonii Nuck
Lugduni Batavorum : Apud Samuelem Luchtmans 1723 - First thus [includes the work by Reverhorst] (I) Adenographia Curiosa et. pp: [iv], 152, [22], [5 index], nine pull-out plates, of which three are fold-outs. (II) Dissertatio Anatomico-Medica. 64pp, two fold-out plates. (III) Sialographia, et ductuum. pp: [xii], 158, [x], [6], six pull-out plates. (IV) Operationes et Experimenta Chirurgica. with printed red and black vignette title page, dated 1733, pp: [xiii],170, [4], fourteen illustrations on four plates, [2 index]. All four volumes have ornate initial letters, and printed margin notes. There is also a collective printed t.p. covering pts. ii, iii, and iv, dated 1723 and described as 'Editio tertia' - another collective t.p. covering parts (I)) & (II). Title page to parts (I) & (II) is misplaced, and is in place where t.p. to part (IV) should be; likewise t.p. to part (IV) is in place of part (I) t.p. 16mo hardcover (162mm X 110mm) in dark-red textured cloth (circa late C19th) with gilt spine lettering. All parts have no frontispieces. The bookbinder's label (C. Cooper & Co Ltd, Birmingham) is attached to front paste-down. This copy was once held at the library of the Birmingham Medical Institute, and has their library binding with their name in gilt to the spine. Also a few leaves and some plates have a rubber stamp to their margins (none over any illustrations). Overall VERY GOOD condition. Sturdy binding very light rubs to corners of spine ends, fore-corners are neat and square corners, and spine lettering very clear. Although text block has been trimmed, all text and margin text not affected, and are well clear of edges. Text block is tight with clean, clear leaves - no text inscriptions, annotations, etc, although the second flyleaf recto has an inked inscription (probably contemporary). Illustrations are neat, clear, and crisp - although there is a 5cm glued paper repair to a closed tear of one illustration - and all illustrations are present. A nicely preserved copy.
