Original wrappers bound in. Book housed in its original marbled paper covered slipcase. Remarkable work written in the form of a play script, which details one night in the life of Anthony the Great where Anthony is faced with great temptations. Gustave Flaubert's masterpiece is magnificently illustrated by Arthur Szyk, with 20 pochoir plates on Arches and duplicate suite on Imperial Japon. Each plate is protected with a tissue guard. This exquisite work is one of 30 copies on Imperial Japon, of a total edition of 343 copies. Rubbing along edges of slipcase. Spine of book sunned. Joints rubbed.
