McLoughlin Bros & Co. Publishers, New York 1869 - (Nast, Thomas) illustrator. THE WONDERFUL ADVENTURES OF HUMPTY DUMPTY. Vol. I and Vol. II, illustrated by Thos. Nast. New York: McLoughlin Bros & Co. Publishers, [1869]. First edition. 4to - 9-1/8" x 10-9/16". Staple bound, color pictorial printed stiff paper wrappers in outstanding condition with the exception of a very small, archival repaired insect hole measuring approximately 1/8" x 1/2", that effects both drawing and text on the final five leaves of Vol. I. Pagination, Vol. I: 6 leaves text, [6] leaves chromolithograph plates; and Vol. II: 6 leaves text and [6] leaves chromolithograph plates. Both text and plates printed on one side of leaf only. Internally, both volumes are in fresh and wonderful condition with the exception of the aforementioned repairs to Vol. I. Back covers with printed advertisement for other McLoughlin Bros' titles complete with pricing information. These two volumes would have set you back a cool 50 cents back in 1869! The story, told in verse, relates the adventures of Humpty Dumpty, post-fall. It seems that Humpty Dumpty wasn't seriously hurt by his famous fall, seeing that, at least in this version, it was cushioned by falling on an egg! The condition of Vol. I is VERY GOOD. The condition of Vol. II is FINE. EXCEEDINGLY RARE in any condition. Possibly a unique survival in such wonderful condition. Two volumes. [Attributes: First Edition; Soft Cover]
