Laid in is Leonard Baskin's signed autograph letter to Berthold Wolpe who designed the dust jacket: "7.11.1970. Dear Mr. Wolpe, Excuse this miserable pen. T. Hughes's Crow was inspired not by my crows but resulted from a commission to Ted in one [of] his darkest moments. I will this evening draw a suitable crow for F&F's jacket. I know & admire yr work & am pleased for this opportunity to tell you so. Yrs Leonard Baskin, Berthold Wolpe, Esq. Faber & Faber London".
